Accessibility

Our website strives to uphold the principles and best practice of the WCAG

1.0 AAA guidelines. While we aim to comply with the WCAG guidelines, we recognise that web technology has moved on since their creation, and a number of them are less applicable than at their time of publication. Our central objective is users finding our site accessible and usable in practice. As with all sites we create, attention to the accessibility of the code and extensive end user testing ensures that this is the case.

Our Site Code
The site has been built to comply with standards XHTML and CSS2 / CSS3. At every stage the code has been checked for accessibility using a range of automated and (more significantly) manual checks. Some parts of the site are generated using third party software that may introduce some warnings on the quality of the code. Please be assured that all information and functionality will still be accessible.

Site Navigation
The primary site navigation is displayed in most graphical browsers in a vertical column situated down the left of the page. This navigational area also provides links to other venues within sefton arts. Our website includes a what's on / coming soon guide which has a tabbed menu. This section displays a title which links to the full article related to it. The article will be displayed in the main body of the page. If the functionality to book an event is available, this will be displayed beneath the date as a link. This link will take you away from the site to a third party website. Sefton Arts cannot control what information is displayed within the external site.

Related Links
If related links are displayed, they appear after the main body copy. When a related link is used, the page is refreshed with the appropriate content.

Navigation History
When you click an item in the navigation area, that page is loaded in your browser.  The current page is indicated at the top of the main body of the page in what is known as a 'breadcrumb' format eg. You are here: Home >> What's On
